USING RECYCLED THREAD

The characteristics of recycled thread, which can also be considered as the main reasons why they are used, include: the variety of colour they offer, how soft they can be, plus the simple fact that by using them, we are helping to look after our planet. This, as a result, allows us to feel positively about choosing to work with them. We can create items including ones that can be worn (clothes, jewellery etc), artwork, home accessories (tableware, serviettes, curtains etc) and construction materials (string, rope, straps, cloths, towels etc).

By using recycled thread, we’re taking part in helping to preserve our planet’s ecological state. There are many pros of using recycled fibres such as saving energy, tap water, money, time and raw materials, as well as respecting the ecosystem and its natural resources. There are, however, downsides to using recycled threads. These can include instances where, for example, the strands we’d like to use are too short. Despite this, they can still be used in an efficient, beneficial way such to create extra detail in a piece. Examples of this can be seen on some of the artwork made at Piegatto.

In order to improve a fabric’s endurance, particularly cotton, it can be mixed with nylon, polyester, acrylics, etc.

There are various factories that produce recycled fibres. This includes ‘EcoYarn’ at ‘Hilaturas Los Angeles’ in Mexico. This brand is registered by a company in Puebla and it produces thread using a reduced amount natural resources such as water. Also, it prevents contaminating the environment and saves energy, time and resources. The most reused material is cotton. Another company is ‘Vilarrasa’ based in Girona, Spain. Here, they produce up to 11,000 tonnes of recycled thread annually and export 70% of their production. They use waste from clothing that is left over after trimming.

Polyamide is an organic, chemical compound with a high melting point and is created by chemical reaction. Synthetic fibres made from polyamide are mainly used in the clothing industry.  Polyamides can be found naturally in wool or silk, but also in synthetics including nylon or Kevlar.

USO DE HILOS RECICLADOS

Las características de los hilos reciclados y usos principales son por la gran variedad de colores, suavidad, y el simple hecho de saber que estamos ayudando a cuidar nuestro planeta, nos hace sentir mejor con las piezas que estamos utilizando.  Podemos producir prendas de vestir (ropa, joyas, etc), obras de arte, accesorios personales y para el hogar (mantelería, servilletas, cortinas, etc), para la construcción (pitas, cordeles, correas, trapos para limpiar, toallas, etc)  con estos materiales.

Con el uso de hilos reciclados, colaboramos y ayudamos a preservar la ecología de nuestro planeta.   

Entre las ventajas de usar fibras recicladas, están el ahorro de energía, agua potable, dinero, tiempo, materias primas, respeto a ecosistemas y recursos naturales.

Algunos Inconvenientes del uso de hilos reciclados es que algunas veces las fibras son más cortas. Pero esto a la misma vez, puede ser una ventaja, que podemos hacer piezas con ciertos acentos o puntos como el que se utiliza en las piezas de arte que fabricamos en Piegatto.

Para lograr mejorar la resistencia de las fibras orgánicas, principalmente de algodón, hay que mezclarlas con Nylon, Poliéster, acrílicos, etc.

Existen diferentes fabricas que producen fibras recicladas, entre estas está el EcoYarn (Fabrica en México, Hilaturas los Ángeles) es una marca registrada por una empresa en Puebla, produce hilos fabricados con la reducción y consumo de recursos naturales como agua, y, evita contaminación del medio ambiente, ahorro de energía, tiempo y recursos.  El principal producto a reutilizar es el algodón.

Otra empresa es Vilarrasa (Girona, Cataluña, España) que produce hasta 11,000 toneladas anuales de hilos reciclados y exportan hasta el 70% de sus producción, utilizando los desechos de confección, que es lo que sobra al hacer los cortes.

Poliamida: Compuesto químico orgánico formado mediante una reacción química que le confiere un elevado punto de fusión. Fibra sintética de poliamida que se utiliza principalmente en industria textil.  Las poliamidas se pueden encontrar en la naturaleza, como la lana o la seda, y también ser sintéticas, como el nylon o el Kevlar.
